Russian Prison Tattoos

If you’ve watched the movie ‘Eastern Promises’ then you must have become intrigued by Russian prison and mafia tattoos. Unlike the majority of tattoos seen in Western culture, these tattoos tell specific stories, documenting a person’s life and achievements, particularly those of relevance to their life of crime.

South African Prison Tattoos

We found this super interesting slideshow on the BBC through a post on Needled.com. This slideshow features the photographs of Araminta de Clermont that capture South African prisoners, men who served time in prisons, and were tattooed while there.

There is audio featuring comments from the photographer and some of the people who posed for the photographs.

Tattoo Removal!

We’ve all seen it, the perfect babe… except for that damn tattoo! We shouldn’t even be pointing the finger at the babes, just about anyone with more than one tattoo has one they dislike, one that looks horrid for some reason or other. Sometimes it was their very first tattoo, something they got on the spur of the moment, before they knew much about tattooing and how to spot a good artist.

When it comes to tattoo removal, it’s no wonder snake oils began popping up for sale. Laser tattoo removal sounds like one of the most painful processes a person could endure to remove their ink. Beyond that, the options are pretty slim. In steps companies offering creams that they claim will remove tattoos.

For a long time we’ve held the opinion that such creams are bullshit, but had no proof. Well a great little Canadian television show known as Street Cents finally put a tattoo removal cream through their test, and they’ve written up an internet page explaining why tattoo removal creams get “the pit”, meaning they are garbage.

Tattoo Apprenticeship How-To
